Stand-Alone Movement

The RPG Maker community is in disrepair. We've contracted an illness of the community mind, simple arrogance. We make our various games hoping that our fine work will escalate our social position in the world even if only by the width of a pin, but most of us forget to include a critical step in the process...

...We forget to make the damn thing STAND-ALONE!

(FYI, Dictionary.com defines "stand-alone" as: "Self-contained and usually independently operating." That means that no other middleware is required to be previously installed in order to run the game.)

99%+ of the potential audience does NOT use the RMs. We as a community SHOULD work towards increasing the surplus population of the RM community where we can, but everyone these days is so caught up in their own arrogance to stop and realize they're damaging the community! If we don't [additionally] submit our games so they don't require a copy of the RMs to run, than the downloader doesn't need to download ADDITIONAL CRAP and INSTALL it to play your likkle project! Believe it or not, the typical consumer does NOT want to install stuff to their registry and most KIDS downloading the games don't have admin rights to the computer they're using in the first place!

Gods DAMMIT people! Do you have any idea what this means???

It MEANS that people aren't able to show their real-world friends their demos to get recommendations or completed games to receive criticism, and the rest of the world can't play the game in the first place because they don't HAVE the fuggin' RPG MAKER PROGRAM + RTP!

All the makers have ways to make games stand-alone, you just have to spend fuggin' 30 SECONDS waiting for it to do so!

I'm not just applying this to completed games, MAKE YOUR DEMOS STAND-ALONE TOO! If you don't make your incomplete demos stand-alone, you lock your game away from the 99%+ of those people you're asking for opinions on your work! I sure as heck don't have installations of all the RMs, but that doesn't mean I don't want to PLAY those games!

I want to play those games!

I want to find a favorite completed game and cheer on and encourage games in the demo stages to keep up the good work, but I can't do that if I can't play the damn thing! I do NOT want to have to choose a favorite RM game out of the limited list of completed games the elite tell me to like. As-is, a non-stand-alone game may have a small download time, but it's not worth it if you can't get the optimum feedback you deserve!

Creators, every semi-major update on your game needs to be put up for download. (replacing the old download each time of course) Many have lost heart and fallen because they aren't reaching an optimum audience! Demos needs to be made stand-alone so people like me can actually download the thing and offer praise and criticism where needed. I CHEER ON those people who release demos as stand-alone.

It's not too much to ask of your game's host to hold on to both a non-stand-alone demo and a stand-alone version! They aren't that big! If they ARE that big, then there are PLENTY of safe and free webhosting opportunities out there that can service your needs! (ex. CLICK HERE )

Make those demos stand-alone and get them online for download, people! Most people don't get anywhere without encouragement, and alot of the "Sorry, I don't have the RMs" excuses they hear upon posting about their game on various forums end up KILLING THEIR GAME! Just take the damn 30 SECONDS and MAKE THE DAMN THING STAND-ALONE!
